Creating culturally intelligent organizations and workspaces is increasingly important in today’s society. Working towards creating Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) goals will improve the efficiency, recruitment, engagement, and retention of employees. In response to the need for practical knowledge and strategies,  this online program was developed to help business leaders, supervisors, and employees advance EDI goals within their organizations. 

Building Cultural Intelligence lays the foundation for you to support diversity and inclusion in your workplace and personal life. You will learn how to create a common understanding and language around diversity topics before you bring the theory to practice in your organization.

Instructors

  • Jodi Thesing-Ritter

    Jodi Thesing‐Ritter is the Executive Director for Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Wisconsin‐Eau Claire. She provides leadership for diversity and inclusion for the campus, supervises the campus college access and success program‐ Blugold Beginnings, facilitates the Civil Rights Pilgrimage, teaches in the Women’s Studies and Honors programs, and provides ongoing training and development on issues of diversity and inclusion. Her research on the UW‐Eau Claire Civil Rights Pilgrimage has been published in the book‐ Dark Tourism and Pilgrimage. Jodi received a bachelor’s degree in biology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX, a master’s degree in student personnel administration from Columbia University and an education specialist degree from UW‐Stout. She was honored with the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Excellence award from UW‐Eau Claire and has received the UW System Board of Regents Diversity Award for her work with Blugold Beginnings. Her strengths are Activator, Developer, Strategic, Positivity, and Achiever.

  • Professional picture of Wes Escondo

    Wes Escondo currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin. Previous to his work in non-profit, he spent ten years in the proprietary higher education sector in admissions and administration. As a community member, Wes is the founding Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force at the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he has served on the board of directors for Chippewa Valley Technical College Foundation, Reach Foundation, Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire and the Rotary Club of Eau Claire. Wes received a Master’s Degree in Strategic Communications and Leadership from Seton Hall University. 

CEU Information

Participants will earn 1.5 Continuing Education Units ( 15 Contact Hours) upon completion of this program.
