Wild Mushrooms 101

Learn the basics of mushroom identification in time for spring foraging. Learn what is edible, what should be avoided, and look-alikes that could be confusing.

Key Program Information

Wild mushrooms are plentiful throughout the Midwest and foraging provides the opportunity for exploration, adventure and exercise. Join us for this great opportunity to learn the basics of mushroom identification from a noted expert of wild mushroom cultivation and foraging!

This live online session covers the “three rules-plus one” and the safe six: Morels, Shaggy Manes, Hens of the Woods, Chicken Mushrooms, Oyster Mushrooms, and Giant Puffballs. Topics include tree identification, ethics, safety, storage and preparation. Poisonous mushrooms will also be discussed.

Who should attend
